Santa Cruz Sea Glass: the story behind the treasure

With Santa Cruz Sea Glass author Krista Hammond tells the story of some of the most exotic sea glass found in the world.

Found along the shores of Davenport, California, the source of these gems was the Lundberg Studios, a local art glass house known around the world for their beautiful glass creations, especially their paperweights.

In the early 1970s colorful remnants of leftover discarded glass was stored behind the studio. Heavy rainstorms would washed this refuse into a creek that ran along the studio and down to the Pacific Ocean where Mother Nature would work her wonders.

These days the studio is much more careful with how they discard their leftovers so the supply of this beautiful glass is not limitless.

The story is accompanied by wonderful photos by Josie Iselin of Hammond's exotic sea glass collection that would make even the most casual enthusiast most envious. Also, there is no reasonable way one could possible explain to a non-collector how absolutely beautiful this glass is without the aid of this book.

This is a well-made hardcover book with matching slip case, written in conjunction with Lundberg Studios. The studio photos within the book were provided by Paul Keitz Photography.

Any sea glass collector could really benefit from including this book in their library.

The book is available online at Amazon.com for $29.95 plus shipping.
